AC Shadows Introduces Unexpected AoT Collaboration for Thanksgiving
In a bizarre crossover event that breaks usual predictions, the game developer has revealed an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering free additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Questline Revealed
According to the authorized statement, "A strange meeting leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where whispers of forbidden rituals and fearsome metamorphoses resonate through the shadows." The narrative introduces a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a secret cult.
The questline centers on "strange trials and a monstrous foe" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Iconic Locations and Metamorphoses
The preview showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer concludes with a striking sequence showing a character, presumably the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Items and Bonus Features
Players who finish the adventure will obtain an unique katana together with several objects concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Unique weapons
- Survey Corps mount
Newest Free Story Update
This patch also brings the game's newest free story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange distinctive skills: Naoe debuts a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This marks not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime series. The series earlier showcased a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla subtly contained a quest that obviously echoed the famous series One-Punch Man.
