Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Officers state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then found multiple other marked cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials say preliminary tests suggest the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"There is still no lead as to its source; investigators are presently not informed of any harm in relation with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for information.
A senior political figure said the attack rendered him without words and required to be solved rapidly.
"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right attack in 2020," he wrote on online, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on people of migrant background in February 2020.
