British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Deadly Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople announced on late Wednesday. The fighter was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on December 29th, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
Joshua had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.
Honoring the Deceased
The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two trusted companions.”
The news of his discharge follows the boxing community offered sympathy for the fighter in the following the devastating accident.
