British tennis star Emma Raducanu ends the current season and has decided to continue with trainer through next year.
Raducanu reached the third round in three of the four major tournaments this year.
Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has withdrawn from her remaining competitions this season because of the illness she has been fighting over the past 10 days.
At 22 years old had planned to participate in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to regain her health before starting plans for the 2026 season.
Her upcoming training will involve her coach Francisco Roig, as both individuals have agreed to work together again next season.
Raducanu underwent blood pressure monitoring during her first-round match against Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and stopped playing when behind 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.
She needed once more a visit from the doctor at the recent Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in round one.
She was also playing with clear difficulty in the third set in the match with Zhu owing to the lower back problem that has affected her at times this year.
Those results followed a positive campaign, in which the player advanced into the world's top 30 after more than three years for the first time since 2022, finished with a trio of defeats.
She held three match points before losing to Jessica Pegula in round three in Beijing last month.
The player achieved 28 matches this year and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami event in March.
As Britain's top player advanced to the quarters of the WTA 1000 event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament before losing in three sets to the world number four Pegula.
She was coached by Mark Petchey as coach between Miami and Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in for the US Open.
The first plan with the former trainer of Nadal was until the end of the season but the collaboration persists, with a training block pencilled in for the end of the year.
Raducanu told that the trial session alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.
She came very close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in August's Cincinnati tournament.
The coach also accompanied Raducanu in the New York tournament, where she reached the third round before being beaten by Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
