Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice
The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.
The organization did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Allegations Shared on Social Media
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a set of images on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She stated the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.
Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File
No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.
Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles
The receiver was absent for the first six games of this season following an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.
Statistically, he concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
