Heavy Precipitation Exacerbate Conditions for Evacuated Gazans, UN Caution
Persistent precipitation over the last seven days have worsened the already dire circumstances of the hundreds of thousands of uprooted civilians in the Gaza Strip, according to relief organizations.
"Terrible" Weather Creates Serious Dangers
A representative detailed the weather overnight as "terrible", with rain so heavy that around 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the streets.
"Last night was truly horrendous for the residents. The downpours were so intense... And the gusts were so powerful," stated the official.
Officials express extreme worry that minors living in tents in damp attire will succumb to hypothermia and other ailments.
Fatalities and Significant Destruction
Medical officials have confirmed that one baby has died from the cold and at least 11 other people have died in roof cave-ins triggered by the severe weather.
Further statements put a higher number of casualties. Spokespeople stated that several residential buildings had fully given way and scores had been partly destroyed.

Relief Distribution Seen as Not Enough
Groups have escalated distribution of shelter, bedding and clothes following the halt in hostilities commenced, but they stress there is remains not enough aid getting in.
"Agencies are operating tirelessly to provide that relief and to hand it out, but the size of the needs is so immense that we still have thousands of individuals and children who are really struggling nightly," cautioned one spokesperson.
Future Issues and Truce Provisions
The subsequent part of the agreement encompasses proposals for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with future administration, the pullback of personnel, and other terms.
Aid bodies have underscored the need for "expanded and ongoing humanitarian assistance to meet pressing and ongoing needs."
The hostilities was initiated by an offensive in late 2023. Later military operations have led to a significant number of lives lost in the territory, based on health ministry data.
