Hulu is Producing a Far Cry TV Series from the Minds of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The latest Far Cry game that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and was released back in October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is known for celebrating chaos and insanity with equal excitement, all while weaving engaging, socially charged narratives. No wonder then that FX's decision for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two producers whose work have represented all of those things.

About the Series

Adapted from Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the self-contained anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The series will also mirror the video games' format by featuring a fresh setting and ensemble in each season.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The network enjoyed outstanding relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is innovative, engrossing, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this popular property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what role that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently greenlit for another season, with FX and Disney signing a new long-term contract with the showrunner.

“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game realms ever created. And through it all, my FX team constantly supports me with their steady trust and support.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every instalment is a variation of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a story,” explained Hawley. “To develop a large-scale action show that can shift from season to season, while always examining the core of society through this complex and turbulent perspective, is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to work with Rob and present our mutual irreverent, daring style to the television.”

A release window for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
