This Swine Life: Pig Named Six Seven Spared by Miami Dade County Leader.

While perhaps not at the identical stature as sparing festive fowl, but the Miami-Dade County mayor conducted a presidential-style act this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. Clemency is justified for her. No offenses are on her docket,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the sheer volume of executive clemencies issued since the beginning of a current administration.

“Unless you count eating six or seven apples per day,” the mayor added. “Let this swine have a long and happy life away from worry.”

The event, which both honors and questions the area's customary feast of eating roast pork during the holidays, was established to replicate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The pig, contributed by a first responder, was given its name from the current slang trend of young people yelling “six seven” – originating from a musical verse – often seemingly at random. The phrase became so widespread that a prominent word reference recently named “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection.

A New Life

The pardoned swine is now set to enjoy its days at a rural sanctuary “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The annual pig pardon has become a cherished method to begin the end-of-year celebrations,” said the cafe owner, in a notably cheerful message.

“It represents the essence of Miami: happy, varied, and rooted in traditions that unite the community. Every time, we are proud to celebrate culture and compassion in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Guests enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach croquetas and strong coffee as they toasted the pig's pardon.
