Two Charged Over Heathrow Alleged Pepper Spray Attack
Formal charges have been brought against two men following a suitcase robbery where a believed to be irritant spray caused injuries at the UK's busiest airport.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, have both been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of deploying a toxic agent, according to official statements.
The charges follow an investigation into an attack at the parking structure at Heathrow's Terminal Three on Sunday. Before the assault occurred, two female travelers had their luggage taken after exiting a parking garage elevator, authorities reported.
A young child was caught up in the incident in the event. Several persons were taken to a medical facility and were later discharged.
This event – which authorities stated was isolated and not considered a terror-related act – led to disruptions to rail services and the temporary blocking of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area for a short time.
